Arsip Bulanan: Juni 2008

another night. another sorrow on the field in vienna. italy lost to spain for the first time in 88 years after penalty shoot-out. oh well, italy didnt deserve to win the game anyway, i must admit. lack of creativity and flair in the midfield was worsened with poor finishing touch in front. i even joked with a friend that toni was an extra defensive player for spain, as the ball simply went to the opponent each time he had it. pff ..

but yea, i cant really blame any italians who played on the game. the crop was simply not good enough competing with the spaniards, let alone winning the championships. too bad. but, it seems that lippi is gonna come back. a good news that is.

so, as expected, a friend from madrid sent me email, saying that we should have bet something for that game. ehehehee … fortunately we didnt make any. otherwise, i’d have lost something.

anyway … i’ve been bored the whole day. fortunately, i found some interesting tests while browsing online. one of them was a machiavelli personality test. i scored 66 on that. should you want to take the test, please visit this link.

i also found another test, which gave me more understanding about myself, it’s called humanmetrics. the result says that I:

  • distinctively expressed extravert
  • moderately expressed intuitive personality
  • distinctively expressed feeling personality
  • moderately expressed judging personality

in a more elaborated explanation, im an ENFJ. Some descriptions of people with ENFJ personality:

have tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship.

ENFJs are global learners. They see the big picture. The ENFJs focus is expansive. Some can juggle an amazing number of responsibilities or projects simultaneously. Many ENFJs have tremendous entrepreneurial ability.

ENFJs are organized in the arena of interpersonal affairs.

more about ENFJ can be read here. hmmm .. a fruitful end at the end of the day. i think i gonna watch another ep. of ER (Emergency Room). see you next time around.

o la la … what a match!!!

the dutch came with a perfect record on the qualifying stage. 3 wins against italy, france, and romania. they’ve been sensational as well, scoring 3 and 4 goals against italy and france, respectively.

on the other side came the russians, with the famous guus hiddink. lost 1-4 from spain, but they bounced back and managed to qualify to the quarter final of EURO 2008 by defeating sweden in the last game on the group phase.

and yeah, the two teams met … and the russians were just incredible!!! took the initiative to attack the dutch right from the beginning. they finally got the lead at the 56th minute. the dutch were lucky enough to level the score at the 86th minute. there we went to the extra time. the russians were again playing superb. 2 more goals came in the second half of the extra time.

the russians simply exploited the dutch’ main weakness, defending their own goal. the russians midfielder were just combative throughout the game; marking, tackling every dutch midfielder. the dutch unfortunately had no answer to this masterful tactic of guus hiddink. and yeah .. you knew the result. the russians went through to the semi-final :d wonderfull .. hup russians hup ;)

hey hey …

the last few days have been really busy, in a fun way. it started on monday. in the afternoon i got a phone call from hanny, telling me that willy became ill and therefore couldnt run the amsterdam – madrid pilot project. she thus asked me if i could lend a hand to organize the project. i said yes, why not i thought; my graduation was on the horizon and it’d be fun !!

so from tuesday to thursday, my agenda was occupied by project-related activities, such as lectures, visiting design and advertising agencies (VBAT and DDB). i also showed them amsterdam. so we went to rembrandtplein to watch the spanish game (where they beaten greece 2-1), leidseplein, and a brief sightseeing around the city.

apart from those famous squares (plein = square, fyi), i guided these students to red light district. i dont know y tourists are so excited to visit the district tho. have no clue whatsoever. later on, i brought them to kalverstraat, where the girls were shopping. oh yea, there were 7 girls and 1 guy, btw. i dont know how much money they spent for shopping.

btw .. speaking of euro 2008, i teased them a lot by saying that italy’d beat spain in the quarter-final on sunday. they obviously responded back insisting that spain’d go through the semi-final. well, we’ll know the result tomorrow :p i’ll for sure send each of them email if italy go through hahahhaa :p just wait and see :D

so yea .. it’s been a nice week. cant wait to watch the game tomorrow. see you on the next post ;)

sunday, june 15, 2008. im enjoying my post dissertation life. finally i got some time to think about something other than facts, stats, sources, and all those jazz to support my argument. fyuhhhh … kinda nice tho, especially in this nice weather. the only thing i wanna do all the time is only to sleep. too bad that didnt, dont, and wont happen.

anyway .. i’ve been watching some more series since being “released” from the dissertation “prison”. im back watching emergency room (ER), which is in its 14th season now. it’s just amazing how this serial stays around for such a long time. and then, there are two british series. first, doctor who produced by BBC. second, secret diary of a call girl by ITV. well .. at least i got some episodes to watch during the summer.

oh yea, back to euro 2008. tonite there will be a crucial match between czech rep. and turkey. the winner will go through the second round. portugal are obviously sealed the ticket to the next round, as they defeated the other competition with ease, i must admit.

so .. that’s for today. i know it’s a bit short and not much to talk about. but, yea. im pouring what’s inside my mind out. enjoy the game tonight.

dug dug … dug dug … dug dug … the rhytm of my heart on june 13 during the last few minutes prior to my final presentation. i was a bit nervous, as my turn to present the dissertation got closer. 5 minutes to the presentation (started at 12.45) i went to the A hall to get myself a cup of capuccino, and then headed towards the room.

no one was in the room. the computer was shut down. so, i turned it off *lucky enough i came in time to prepare everything*. my problem owner was the one to show up, followed by my supervisor, and finally, the second reader. the moment to begin the presentation aka the defence eventually arrived. the first three words were a bit difficult. but once i picked up my style, tone of voice, hand gestures, etc .. the presentation (read: the show) began. one slide after another was presented. well .. the presentation went fast, only about 10 minutes i believe. after that came the question and answer session. that was the part i waited for. it lasted for 20 minutes or so. and it was fun !!! too bad, that was the last opportunity for me to do so. hueuuhe. well .. at the end, my supervisor said well done!! the grade was to be announced on thursday in the following week, tho.

later on in the afternoon, i watched the game italy vs romania in the pancake house at leidseplein. and again, the referee was against italy. this time, he ruled out a legitime goal by toni right before half-time. bah. so fortunate that buffon saved mutu’s penalty kick in the last phase of the game. otherwise, it’d have been a game over for italy.

well, im now looking forward to the italy’s last game on tuesday. fortunately the dutch destroyed france 4-1 later on that evening, that made the chance for italy to go to the second round a bit bigger. im keeping my fingers crossed.

anyway .. gonna have some sleep now. have a nice weekend everyone.

it’s me again, on a break (yea rite, it’s 12.58am rite now :p) …

anyway, im writing this post because of my final dissertation (fd). i dont want to fill in your mind with all “craziness” over the dissertation. instead, i want to discuss a positive impact it has brought into my tv series experience.

thanks to the whole “craziness” around the dissertation, i like comedies these days. three seasons of how i met your mother helped me to go through the long nites of writing the fd. watching comedies did help refresh my brain, it turned out.

next series, which i just finished watching, is two and a half men. this one helped me to relax after submitting the dissertation. well o well, CBS has apparently done a great job on these two series. wonderful job they have made :) can’t wait to watch new episodes in september.
